WARSAW — Republicans in four area towns will hold conventions next week to pare down the fall ballot.

Etna Green, Pierceton and Silver Lake will have conventions at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20. Mentone will have its convention at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, according to Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan.

Registered Republicans in each town will have an opportunity to vote.

Voting in Etna Green will happen at the Heritage Park building. Mentone will cast votes at the Mentone Emergency Services Building. Pierceton will conduct its convention at the  town hall. Silver Lake residents will cost votes at the Silver Lake Lion’s Club.

The voting will be done with paper ballots, Ragan said.

In Etna Green, eight Republican candidates filed for council. Those include Christopher Carter; Keith Claassen; Beverly A. Carter; Aaron Bakian; Susan Klinefelter; Kevin Smith II; Cory D. Ellinger; Jason W. Hanes.

In Pierceton, Republicans will need to choose between three candidates for clerk, Jerry Kreger, Pamela Baker and Myra Mast.

Silver Lake has five Republicans running for council. Those include Hugh Murfin, Chad Miner, Nichole Taylor, Phillip Shalley and Jerry Wagner.

In Mentone, two Republicans filed for clerk, Nicki Norris and Tammy Stoneburner.
