Kosciusko County GOP Chair Mike Ragan congratulates Kayla Leininger as a new member of the Franklin Township board.

MENTONE — Kayla Leininger was chosen by a Republican caucus Tuesday night to fill the vacancy on the Franklin Township Board left by the death of her mother-in-law.

Leininger was the only candidate to file for the position, according to Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ragan.

Precinct Committee members Jo Paczkowski and Jim Eads cast the votes to appoint her.

Buni Leininger died July 7.

Franklin Township is in the southwest corner of Kosciusko County.
