WARSAW — Anyone who’s ever heard the expression “sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me,” had probably best stay clear of the north end of Kosciusko County’s justice building, lest they be hit by a shower of thick, law books.

According to County Administrator Marsha McSherry, volumes and volumes of hardback books are being purged from the justice building since most of the books being thrown away are never used anymore.

On-going conversion to electronic communication over the past decades have made some forms of communication obsolete, and books in a law library are apparently no exception.

A county employee tasked with emptying out the library dropped the books from the upper story of the justice building to a large trailer below. He said the amount of books being thrown away totaled around four tons.
