KOSCIUSKO — Two people have filed declarations of candidacy for the vacant Seward Township Advisory Board member seat.

Paul A. Onstott, Burket; and Matthew Smith, Akron, have both filed for the position.

Efforts to reach both candidates on Friday were unsuccessful.

Declarations of candidacy and statements of economic interests are available at the clerk’s office and must be notarized and filed with Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chairman Mike Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the appointment, or by 6 p.m. Friday, July 26.

The caucus announcing the new advisory board member will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 29, at the Burket Fireman’s Training Center. The appointee will serve the remainder of the term of elected Republican advisory board member Allison McSherry, who resigned recently.

Seward Township is located in the southwest portion of Kosciusko County and includes the town of Burket.
