Phyllis C. West, 89, Columbia City, died at 12:45 pm on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Majestic Care West, Fort Wayne.

Born on Dec.22, 1929, in Muncie, she was the daughter of Merrell H. and Nancy Kathryn (Metz) Cross.

She attended Muncie Central High School. On Nov. 3, 1950, she married Robert E. West in Muncie, and in 1957 they moved to the Tri-Lakes area in Columbia City. In 1972, she moved to Coesse before settling at Columbia City in 1996. She had worked at Blue Bell, Corral Store and J.C. Penney Company for several years. Phyllis enjoyed watching I.U. Hoosier basketball.

Survivors include her son, George T. Madix,Jr., Elkhart; grandchildren, Jordan (Jennifer) Madix, Elkhart and Carmen (Adam) Peppler, Rochester; and great-granddaughters Laine Peppler, Rochester and Adalyn Madix, Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob West in 1996; sons, Anthony Wayne West and Terry West; brother, Harold Cross and companion, Carl Hansen.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 3, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at South Park Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given in her memory to Whitley County Senior Center or her grandchildren’s college fund.
