WARSAW — The Warsaw Walmart Supercenter, located at 2501 Walton Blvd., held a grand reopening ceremony Friday, May 24, to celebrate its completed remodel of the store. The Warsaw Walmart was founded 30 years ago this year. It was originally built across town in the Commerce Plaza. Approximately 18 years ago, it was moved to the current location.
The remodel followed Walmart’s announcement of plans to spend $96 million in Indiana stores this year. The Warsaw remodel included several department transformations and expansion of new innovations that will help customers save time, including an online grocery pickup option that launched today.
“We are excited to offer our customers another shopping game changer with the new online grocery pickup service,” said Archie Armino, Warsaw Walmart store manager. “We understand that our shoppers want convenience and know this new option, along with our store updates, will help make shopping easier for local customers in Warsaw.”
Remodels at the Warsaw store include:
- State-of-the-art electronics department with interactive displays that allow customers to test out electronics before purchasing
- Updated pharmacy with private consultation rooms for customer convenience
- Modernized grocery layout, including new deli counter, hot case and all new produce tables
- Installation of a new family restroom
- New signage, lighting and flooring throughout the entire store for easier navigation
- Fresh painting on the inside and outside of the store
- New shelving and lower fixtures for improved store flow
- Increased number of products in home, pets, sporting good and hardware
- New Money Center that includes an extra register and more than double the floor space for customer speed at checkout
- Added mother’s room for customers
- The online grocery pickup service gives customers the convenience of online shopping and the ease of picking up their purchases without having to leave their vehicles. Best of all, the service is available at no additional cost. Walmart plans to expand this popular service to 40 stores across Indiana by the end of the year. This service is available at the Warsaw Walmart Supercenter as of today.
Last year the Warsaw store installed a pickup tower for online shoppers. Walmart pickup towers are 16-foot, high-tech vending machines capable of fulfilling an online order in less than a minute once the customer arrives at the store. This year, Walmart plans to add 22 more pickup towers to stores across Indiana.
Store Manager Archie Armino and Assistant Manager Robert Himes spoke at the event where both expressed gratitude to all team associates as well as the Walmart planning team. Walmart officials presented grants to several organizations, including $2,000 to the Toys for Tots program, $1,000 to Kosciusko Combined Community Services, $1,000 to The Beaman Home and $1,000 to the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department.
It was also announced that during the remodel Walmart employees raised over $500 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer spoke at the event.
“It really does my heart good to walk into a store that is dedicated to the community, that’s invested back into the community, but most important, invested in their employees,” said Thallemer.
Six employees were recognized for 30 years of service: Tammie Bradshaw, Margaret Anderson, Sandra Reidt, Debbie Ponko, Joyce Giles and Jane Briar.
