WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools has announced its STEM Summer Enrichment Program for students in fourth to sixth grade from any WCS elementary school. Students in the program will explore STEM through Project/Problem-based learning.

The program will be held from Monday, June 3, to Friday, June 21. Students will arrive at 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. for breakfast, will move through three project-based rotations and activities from 8:05 a.m. to 12:55 p.m., break for lunch from 12:55 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. and will be dismissed at 1:20 p.m. each day. Bus transportation for students is available for many families within the WCS district. School nurses will be onsite and both breakfast and lunch will be supplied each day. Late arrivals for breakfast will be accommodated up to 8:30 a.m.

Those enrolled in the program will have several opportunities to work on innovative, engaging projects involving the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Project examples include: designing and researching rocketry; discovering the historic use and design of chariots; exploring biomedical research and scale model creation through 3D printing; researching the Titanic and re-engineering the ship; and combining literacy with engineering through storybook engineering projects.

Students will also have physical activity time each day. This is a structured physical activity time where students engage in games and activities coordinated by WCS physical education instructors. Since this is a daily activity, we ask that you make sure your child wears appropriate shoes to protect their feet.
