Richard D. Wysong, 92, New Paris, died 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019, at his residence.  He was born Aug. 16, 1926, in New Paris to Harvey & Wilma (Smith) Wysong.  On Nov. 25, 1951, he married Virginia (Schroeder) Wysong.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia, Courtyard of Goshen; children, Judy (Michael) Stull, Goshen; David (Karen) Wysong, Syracuse; Sandra (Worthie Haney) Kaufman, Nappanee; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers, James Wysong and Don Wysong.

He was a graduate of New Paris High School and was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy Pacific Theater.  He was Head of Maintenance at Fairfield School Systems for about 20 years. He was a member of the Union Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Nappanee, and the American Legion Post #154, Nappanee.

Graveside services with military honors will be 10 a.m., June 1, at Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee. Memorial donations may be directed to the Center for Hospice, Elkhart.
