Home Damaged By Fire Southeast Of Sidney

SIDNEY — Firefighters from Sidney, Silver Lake, South Whitley and North Manchester converged on the property of Robert and H. Elaine Miller, 11037 S. 600E, North Manchester, Saturday evening, after a report of a possible fire, turned out to be a structure fire.

According to Sidney Fire Chief Nathan Rhodes the Millers were not at home when smoke was noticed coming from the residence. A son was at the church next door and looked out seeing smoke and calling 911.

The county communications center was notified at approximately 7 p.m. of the fire. The fire was brought under control at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Red Cross has been notified to assist the Millers. The Red Cross also was called to provide canteen services for approximately 40 firefighters.
