Thomas J. Elsten Sr.
Thomas J. “Tom” Elsten Sr., 75, Pierceton, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2018, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1943, in Huntington to Earl L. and Helen M. (Bair) Elsten.
He grew up in Huntington, graduated from Huntington High School, attended Indiana / Purdue University in Indianapolis, and International Business College. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from Amtrak after 32 years as a station manager. He lived in Tennessee and Fort Wayne for several years before moving to the Pierceton and North Webster area in 2003.
He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge 359 in Harrisonville, Tenn. and Almena Shriners in Nashville, Tenn.
He is survived by, his daughter, Lori Coleman of Clearlake, Calif.; three sons: Thomas J. (Tonya) Elsten Jr. of Hendersonville, Tenn., Brian (Stephanie) Elsten of Portland, Tenn., and Sean (Shauna) Elsten of Angola; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; four sisters: Barbara Meekin of Huntington, Sharon (Lynn) Sorenson of Huntington, Brenda Daryl) Hare of Auburn, and Cheryl (David) Caudle of Austin, Texas; brother, Richard (Cindy) Elsten of Bluffton
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Eugene Elsten.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. No public services are planned. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster is in charge of arrangements.
