KOSCIUSKO — A Fort Wayne woman was arrested after resisting arrest and kicking a law enforcement officer.

Rebeca Marie Manns, 46, 1817 Frenchman’s Xing, Fort Wayne, is being charged with battery against a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.

On April 9, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a custody dispute at a residence. Upon arrival at the scene, officers saw a female subject, identified as Manns, sitting in a parked vehicle with the door open, yelling at the residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers attempted to talk about the incident with Manns, but she wouldn’t stop yelling. Officers told Manns if she didn’t stop, she would be arrested for disorderly conduct. After the officers told Manns to leave, she backed her vehicle up about one house down the street, exited her vehicle and began to yell again.

As officers attempted to arrest her for disorderly conduct, Manns resisted the officers’ attempts to place her in handcuffs. While she was resisting, Manns kicked one of the officers two times on the right knee.

Manns was eventually placed in handcuffs and in the backseat of a patrol vehicle. While heading to the Kosciusko County Jail, Manns became angry, started screaming and removed her seat belt.

Manns has already been arrested and released on a $5,250 surety and cash bond. She has an initial hearing set for 1 p.m. May 9, in Kosciusko County Superior Court 3.
