WARSAW — One of the biggest residential eyesores that lingered for nearly three years on the city’s south side has been quickly cleaned up in the past week.

A house at 1627 Fisher Avenue, just south of Warsaw Community High School, had been a subject of code enforcement concerns since 2016 because of the large amount of debris located in the front yard, with more in the back yard.

But a change in ownership, as a result of a recent sheriff’ sale, led to a dramatic improvement in appearance late last week.

Code Enforcement Officer Dana Hewitt said at a code enforcement hearing  last Tuesday that they still expected the property to be cleaned up quickly by the new owner.

The city had taken the previous owner, Brad Eberly, to court over the code violations.

Hewitt said word of the cleanup was “great” news and that he planned to visit the property Monday, April 22, to document the improvements. As a result, the case would be removed from the next code enforcement hearing agenda.

“It’s ultimately what we wanted,” Hewitt said. “Sometimes it takes a while.”
