Anton J. “Tony” Schwartz, 90, Winona Lake, passed away at 3:20 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake. He was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Mansfield, Ohio to Ferdinand L. and Anna (Hangar) Schwartz. He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 36 years.

He attended Ohio State University and was a design engineer. He worked several appliance companies including Westinghouse and Amana. He retired from Whirlpool.

He holds several patents for improvements made on stoves, refrigerators and microwave ovens. After retirement, he and Rita traveled extensively, including the Galapagos Islands, safari in Africa and some cruises. Also, they enjoyed helping widows in Vandalia, Ohio with odd jobs such as painting and plumbing. They moved to Warsaw in 2010 to be closer to their son.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother John Schwartz and a sister Marie Dillion, both of Ohio; a stepson, Mark (Sheila) Tenner of Warsaw; two daughters: Lynn (Jeff) Dorr of Oregon; and Ellen (Charlie) Baldwin of Ohio. He was preceded by in death by a son Tim Schwartz, a sister Kate Enderle and brother Frankie Schwartz all of Ohio.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 4-8 p.m., Monday, April 22, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday at the Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Norton celebrating. Interment will be private.
