TIPPECANOE VALLEY 17, TRITON 3

In what was a two-run game midway through on Monday turned into a very lopsided result at Keyser Field in Bourbon.

A 4-2 game in the sixth inning saw Valley plate two in the sixth, then unpack its Spring Break bags in the seventh with 11 runs.

Ally Betten and Sydney Howard paced the Viking attack with both getting three hits – including two doubles and two RBI each. In addition, Brayden Baney, Kirstyn Yoder, Amy Baca, Taylor Czichilski, Kirsten Prater and Mayde Fear all added two hits as part of a 21-hit attack. Kayleena Agnew added a bases-clearing double in the merry-go-round seventh.

Howard worked into the sixth inning to get the win for the Vikings, striking out five.

Skyla Wilson led the Triton offense with three hits – two doubles – and an RBI.

Valley (1-1) plays again Thursday against Winamac while Triton (2-3) works again Tuesday against Plymouth.

FAIRFIELD 5, WAWASEE 2

Fairfield had an answer for Wawasee in a rematch of last year’s sectional tourney matchup.

The Falcons opened with two runs in the first, and after Wawasee clawed back to tie the game in the fourth, Fairfield tallied two in the bottom half and one more in the fifth to close out the scoring.

Fairfield managed just four hits on the day, but worked seven walks and was the beneficiary of six Wawasee wild pitches and a hit batswoman.

Kenzie Miller helped her cause in the circle with an RBI double. Her pitching line had just one earned run on a walk and four strikeouts.

Faith Swihart led Wawasee (2-3) with a hit, walk and two runs scored. Beth Flannery took the loss, giving up all five runs in four-plus innings.

The JV game went to Fairfield in a 15-3 result in Benton. Amari Peete, Katy Flannery and Laney Gross each had hits for the Warriors, which drop to 2-2 overall this season.

NORTHWOOD 7, WEST NOBLE 2

NorthWood used a big inning to get past the Chargers Monday afternoon.

NorthWood hung a six-spot in the board in the third inning, then added another in the fourth before West Noble was able to respond.

Gracie Clark worked four innings of two-hit ball to get the win for the Panthers, with Madison Miller working the final three, allowing three hits and the two Charger runs.

Clark broke the game open in the NorthWood third with a bases-clearing double, putting the Panthers up 4-0. Lily Lomeli added an RBI double in the frame, and Kylie Thornton started the inning off with a double and came around to score on an Amanda Jenkins RBI single.

Grace Anglemeyer also had an RBI for the Panthers.

Taytlynn Forrer had two hits and an RBI for the Chargers.

NorthWood (2-3) takes on Whitko Tuesday.
