SYRACUSE – It wasn’t ideal, as most March weather usually presents, but Wawasee and Westview got in its track meet on a blustery and crisp Thursday evening.

The Wawasee Warriors won the girls side of the double dual, 73-48, and the Westview Warriors won the boys matchup, 67-54, to level the contest. Kenzie Smith had a big, and relatively easy night, picking up three wins to lead Wawasee. Smith anchored an unopposed 4×800 relay to a win at 12:31.49, joined by Courtney Cox, Bailey Mayhew and Emma Ebright, the senior took the mile at 5:55.78 and 300 hurdles at 54.60.

Ebright won the two-mile at 14:10.30, and Mariah Hurst added the half-mile win at 2:47.99. Aiyana Perales chipped in the 100 hurdles win at 18.90.

In the field, Dylan Konieczny cleared 4-10 for high jump, Jada Parzygnot won both pole vault at 9-0 and long jump at 14-7, and Sara Pritchard also doubled in shot put at 32-8 and discus at 94-9.

Aleka Ernsberger was a standout for Westview, winning the speed events, the 100 (13.52), 200 (28.41), 400 (1:02.44) and helped the 4×400 relay (4:32.85).

Westview’s outstanding distance group helped its cause on the boys side. The crimson Warriors won the 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 4×400 and 4×800 in impressive fashion aided by efforts from Kent Yoder, Anthony Sanchez, Spencer Carpenter and Dylan Nowicki among others.

Dom Hostetler added a double win for Westview in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Wawasee had Jon Konieczny and Jesus Landeros go one-two in the 200 at 25.40 and 25.41, Jordan Grindle win the 100 at 12.29, and Landeros, Grindle, David Miller and Ramon Lenoir take the 4×100 relay at 47.79.

Isaiah Tipping won both throws events, going 48-5 in shot put and 112-8 in discus to earn honors, and Landon Gause and Konieczny went one-two in high jump, Gause winning at 5-4.

Wawasee will conclude its non-conference outdoor schedule next Thursday at home against West Noble.
