Are you getting sick of the cold weather? Whether you are or aren’t, it will soon be coming to an end, really. So what can we do to celebrate?
On Saturday, March 30, the “Greyt Readers” will be visiting the library. These are Greyhounds that have stopped racing, and now provide companionship and a calming presence for their new owners.
Kids can sign up, starting now, for a 15-minute slot, and can come in and read a story or two to some sweet dogs. This will take place in Room AB from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
That weekend, the last one in March, begins Spring Break for Warsaw Community Schools, and we have some fun things planned in Children’s Services.
Along with our normal story times for young ones on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, we’ll also have Minecraft Club for kids of elementary school age from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 1 in Room C. On Wednesday, April 3, Family LEGO time will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. LEGO Club will also meet on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mr. Duane is our LEGO Master.
We will present a special activity on April 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. Miss Erin will be presiding over “Kids’ Maker Space; Spring Break Edition”, with help from Kaylyn Hershberger, one of our junior volunteers. Bring your kids and see what fantastic pieces of art they can create.
We just finished our Winter Reading Program, and are gearing up for our yearly Summer Reading Program. For those who haven’t entered school yet, we have a year-round reading program.
The “1,000 Book Reading Club” encourages children to read 1,000 books before kindergarten. Of course, this requires assistance from other members of the family, but what better way to grow up than with books and reading being a central part of your life? Come in and sign up at the Children’s Desk.
Spring is the season of tours in our department. Preschools and kindergartens from around the area come in to see what we have to offer. We look forward to showing off our library. We also have been processing and displaying many new books. Come in and check them out.
