WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools is proud to currently offer dual language immersion programs at both Leesburg and Eisenhower elementary schools. Due to the overwhelming response and limited spots at each location, a lottery drawing will be held at Warsaw Community Schools Central Administration Office to determine placement for the kindergarten level during the 2019-2020 school year.

DLI offers a rich bilingual experience for young learners when their minds are developmentally best able to acquire a second language in meaningful contexts. Students begin the DLI program in kindergarten and receive seven years of dual language instruction to become bilingual and biliterate. Classroom time is split between two teachers, one who teaches in English and the other in Spanish.

The English-speaking teacher will teach reading and writing, as well as portions of other content areas (social studies, science, math, etc.) for half of the day. The Spanish-speaking teacher will use the other half of the day to teach Spanish literacy, mathematics and portions of other content areas using only Spanish. The Spanish teacher speaks only in Spanish and communicates using a wide range of engaging strategies including pictures, songs, games, body language, expressions and drama.

To place your child on the lottery list, please pick up an application at Leesburg or Eisenhower elementary schools. The deadline to enroll in the lottery is Friday, March 29. The lottery drawing will take place on Friday, April 12. Parents will be notified with results.
