Klara E. Hill, 97, Syracuse, passed away at 9:58 a.m. on Feb. 19, 2019, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born on April 28, 1921, in Big Lake, Minn., to John and Maude Mabel (Mummert) Muntinga.

She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Middlebury, and Goshen College in Goshen. She was married on Sept. 8, 1945, to John L. Hill who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2015. She taught high school business courses for 35 + years at Jefferson Township High School, Carmel High School, and Northridge High School. She lived in Carmel, IN, Marietta, GA, North Webster, and Nappanee, before moving to Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse in September of 2017.

She was a member of North Webster Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two nieces: Sharon (David) Rensberger of Decatur, Ga.; and Shirlee Fajardo of Greenville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister – Pauline Bottomley.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Church of the Brethren, 7281 E. 600N, North Webster, with Pastor Bob Wyman officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
