SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School had two students earn gold ratings during the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble District Contest Saturday, Jan. 26, at Fairfield High School.
Devin Van Lue, a freshman, earned his gold rating by singing the song “Tally-Ho!” written by Franco Leoni. Devin is involved in the Vocal Motion show choir at the high school.
He will perform at the state contest Saturday, Feb. 16, at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
Passareeya Seearamroongruang, a junior and a foreign exchange student from Thailand, also earned a gold rating by singing “Part of your world,” a song from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
She will not advance to the state contest, though, because she was placed in a grouping at the district contest where gold rating performers do not advance to the state contest. She is involved in the beginning choir at WHS.
