
WARSAW — A man was conscious and speaking to authorities despite having survived a gruesome motor vehicle accident Friday night, Feb. 1 on US 30 just west of Warsaw involving a single pickup truck and a semi tractor trailer.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. Feb. 1, first responders were called to a pickup-semi crash in the eastbound lanes of US 30 near Silveus Crossing west of Warsaw. A dark colored Dodge pickup truck driven by a male driver was partially pinned under the rear of a semi tractor trailer. First responders called for extrication equipment and the Samaritan helicopter was called to transport the victim to the hospital. A Warsaw Police Department officer on scene said the driver, the only occupant of the pickup, was alert and talking at the scene. First responders used equipment to remove the entire top of the pickup’s cab in order to remove the driver. Personnel on scene declared the extrication complete at 11:44 p.m. after 25 minutes on scene. The helicopter landed at approximately 11:48 p.m. and left with the patient on board at 12:02 a.m. Feb. 2.
