KOSCIUSKO — A North Webster man was arrested after stealing several power tools from a residence.

Chad Alan Wardlow, 35, 107 EMS W23 Lane, North Webster, is being charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; and theft, a level 6 felony.

On Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary report.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer determined that a male subject’s garage door had been pried and kicked open. The male said one welder, one air compressor and several power tools were missing.

The officer discovered that a subject, identified as Wardlow, had pawned several of the stolen tools at a Goshen pawn shop.

Officers also discovered that Wardlow had possibly been staying with a second male subject. The male subject told officers that he had pawned some power tools that he thought belonged to Wardlow since pawn shop policy said only two items can be pawned per day. The male escorted officers to his garage and showed them several other tools that supposedly belonged to Wardlow.

The male subject who Wardlow allegedly stole the items from identified the objects as his. The recovered items included a nail gun, Milwaukee saw, chainsaw, a Ryobi chop saw, Makita concrete saw, a Bosch reciprocating saw and a Black and Decker hammer drill. The total estimated value of the stolen power tools is $1,000.

Wardlow was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Jan. 5, with a $21,000 surety and cash bond.
