WARSAW — Rather than paying for his selection and earning Kohl’s cash, a Cromwell man allegedly stole several items from the store earlier this month.

Timothy Frederick Howard, 34, 314 N. West St., Milford, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; theft, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, officers wth the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of theft at Kohl’s. When officers arrived and spoke with loss prevention personnel, they were told that a male and female were observed selecting an Amazon Echo, Under Armour shoes and a Jawbone speaker. The pair reportedly concealed the items and left the store without paying for them. The stolen items were valued at $449.98.

A loss prevention employee stated the subjects entered a Dodge Caravan. As the loss prevention employee attempted to stop them, the two subjects drove away. The employee was able to obtain the license plate number of the Dodge Caravan.

A Warsaw Police officer observed a vehicle matching the description at Cashland. When the two subjects exited Cashland, the female initially gave false information when identifying herself to police. Eventually the two were identified as Howard and Brandy Light. Inside the vehicle, officers located the Under Armour shoes, the speaker and the Amazon Echo. Howard and Light were arrested at that time. When Howard was searched, police discovered a glass smoking device that contained burnt residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Howard was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Tuesday, Dec. 11, on a $600 cash bond.
