SILVER LAKE —  Silver Lake residents enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus Thursday, Dec. 20, at the old fire station on Jefferson Street.

Santa made his rounds through town in a fire truck, accompanied by Silver Lake Fire Chief John Conley, while residents of all ages waved and cheered. A long line of children waited for their turn to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas gift wishes. Hot chocolate and cookies were served, and each child who attended the event received a gift.

“Santa coming to Silver Lake on a fire truck is a beloved event every year. Young and old alike look forward to him coming down their street,” said Silver Lake Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Conley. “The tradition stopped for a few years but was brought back in 2012. It’s one of our fondest memories, when my children were small, to see Santa at the old fire station. We want the children now to have those same memories.”

Approximately 70 children attended the event.
