Mark G. Boggs, 67, Leesburg, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Miller’s Oak Point Nursing Home in Columbia City. He was born Sept. 9, 1951, in South Bend, to Wilbur E. and Dora A. (Jacobs) Boggs.

He graduated in 1969 from Clay High School, attended Thornton Community College in Thornton, Ill. and was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran where he received the Distinguished Air Medal. On Nov. 13, 1971 in Niles, Mich. he married Gail Lynn Nowatka, who survives. He retired in 2005 from Rinker Boats in Syracuse as supervisor in the wood shop after 18 years of service and formerly worked at Hanks Supermarket in South Bend as a meat cutter and Eagle Foods as a meat cutter for 15 years. He grew up in South Bend, lived in Lawton, Okla. for one year, Tinley Park, Ill. for four years, Mokena, Ill for 11 years, and then moved to Leesburg (Little Tippy Lake) in 1987.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 253 in North Webster where he was in the color guard and 40 and 8.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Boggs; daughter, Beth (Ramior) Gonzalez, Joliet, Ill.; son, Mark Boggs, Goshen; three grandchildren: Ben, Max and Isabel Gonzalez; brother, Glen Robert Boggs, St. Louis, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Pete Boggs, and sister, Jone DeCook.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster with family friend, Kem Zolman officiating. Military rites will take place at the funeral home by the North Webster American Legion. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow from noon-2 p.m., Saturday at the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
