CARMEL — ‘Black ice’ is being blamed for a 30-car crash Thursday morning.
Six injuries were reported from the crash on the 96th Street bridge over the White River around 6:45 a.m. Four of those victims were taken to the hospital, but all are expected to be okay.
Wreckers from seven different agencies were called in to tow away 17 vehicles. If your car was one of those towed and you don’t know where it was taken, you can call Hamilton County Communications at (317) 773-1282.
Carmel Clay School District provided a school bus so drivers could wait in a safe, warm vehicle while arranging alternate transportation if their vehicle was undriveable.
The westbound lanes were shutdown for roughly 2 1/2 hours while emergency crews cleared the area. Traffic was moving again around 9:30 a.m.
