
Michael Thomas Jackson, 68, Putnam, Okla., passed away unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center in Hilo, Hawaii.
On July 21, 1950, he was born to the late Thomas Samuel Jackson and Helen (Rosenogle) Chokey in Kendallville. On July 3, 2002, he married, Carrie Jo Vandenberg in Hilo, Hawaii.
He is survived by his son, Justin (Tammy) Plank of Syracuse; two granddaughters, Morgan and Madeline Plank of Syracuse; aunt, Lois Rosenogle of Ligonier; cousins, Larry (Sandy) Rosenogle, Jim Rosenogle, and Marsha Rosenogle; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carrie Joe Jackson and parents, Thomas Jackson and Helen Chokey.
Mr. Jackson was a man of many talents. After leaving the Noble County area, he ventured off to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. He was not afraid to work with his hands. A concrete finisher by trade, carpenter, and lawn service provider during the week and a Sprint Car racer by the weekend. He loved NASCAR and anything to do with fast moving vehicles.
His other favorite pastimes was fishing, spending time with his son, Justin and planting every type of plant known to man. He found happiness in everything and you would never hear him say negative things about anyone. This true jack of all trades was loved and liked by everyone who came in to contact with him. His never-ending joy for life and positive vibes towards humanity is what he will be remembered by.
A funeral service in Michael Jackson’s honor will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN following the service. There will be a time of visitation held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
