WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy performed a community outreach “Free to Serve” project Wednesday, Nov. 14. The entire LCA student body was involved in the event, as the students went out in small groups to serve the Winona Lake community by cleaning up parks and raking leaves.

LCA Director of Development Scott Wiley said one of Lakeland Christian Academy’s goals every year is to connect with the local community and serve others in need. School was closed for three hours while the students and staff members went to Winona Lake to rake leaves and perform other  services.

“We had 165 students and staff raking leaves, spreading rocks and getting homes ready for winter for people who may have a hard time doing it for themselves,” said Wiley. “Several people also went to Grace Village Retirement Community to help out.”

According to Wiley, LCA attempts to do at least two community outreach projects per semester.
