A recent Facebook post said that Maverik Lowe is out of ICU.

FULTON COUNTY — The Tippecanoe Valley Middle School student injured in a deadly school bus stop accident Tuesday, Oct. 30, is out of ICU.

Maverik Lowe, 11, was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for his injuries after being struck by a pickup truck while boarding a bus. Alivia Stahl, 9, and her six-year-old twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason, were killed in the crash.

Alyssa L. Shepherd, 24, was traveling southbound on SR 25 when she failed to stop for a Tippecanoe Valley school bus, which had its stop arm and exterior lights activated. As children crossed the road to board the bus, Shepherd struck four children with her pickup truck, including Lowe. Nine-year-old Alivia Stahl and her 6-year-old twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, were killed in the crash.

According to a statement posted by the family, Maverik’s condition has been improving. A recent post featured the above photo with the following caption:

“He’s been doing therapy which consists of sitting in a chair, and he gets put in a sling and moved in and out of bed into a chair. He still has a lot of fluids coming up out of his lungs, but they are giving him breathing treatments and exercises to help get it all out.”

A GoFundMe for Lowe’s medical bills has been set up, with $63,026 raised so far.
