HOWE — A semi tractor-trailer veered off S.R. 120 in LaGrange County early Wednesday and its trailer was cut in half and its cab slammed into a home.

Police were called just after 3:30 a.m. to 3715 E. S.R. 120, east of Howe, on a report that a semi struck a home there.

Responders arrived to find the trailer of a semi split around a tree. The semi cab was resting against the home.

A LaGrange County Sheriff’s report said Rahkeem Thompson, 25, of Radcliffe, Iowa, was driving a 2005 Kenwood semi westbound on S.R. 120 when for unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway.

The semi continued off the road and crossed over C.R. 375 East before it hit a tree, splitting the semi trailer in half. The semi truck continued on and struck the south side of the home and a detached garage, the report said.

The residents were home at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
