WARSAW — Business at this month’s Board of Aviation Commissioners meeting held Monday, Oct. 15, focused on discussing an upcoming project regarding the movement of power lines at the airport.

Ken Ross of NGC Aviation Consultants said the cost estimate for the power line project through AEP is estimated at $6.2 million.

“We’ve had great support and Nick (King) succeeded in discussing this with some key people to help the project move forward,” said Ross.

Ross said the power line project will be an independent utility project and does not include road relocation. Board President Jay Rigdon noted that even people not accustomed to the airport’s layout mention the power lines.

“We understand that completely,” Rigdon said. “This project is one we’ve been working on for a while.”

Ross said that lowering the power lines will not affect wetland areas or farming near the airport. Funding for the project is 100 percent funded through a grant with no matching funds.

Fuel usage for the airport is approximately the same as September 2017.

The airport’s layout plan was also discussed. The board is waiting for an official response from the FAA regarding its layout and future projects.

• September claims of $140,513.19 were approved.
• The board’s next meeting will be at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Warsaw City Hall.
