SYRACUSE — Despite being rained out for half of the event, the Mother Son Adventure event put together by the Lakeland Youth Center  at Quaker Haven Camp was a thrilling success on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Outdoor activities, like walking along the trails, were quickly tackled before things moved inside where mothers and sons could continue their bonding time over tacos, a giant jump pad with basketball, a rock wall and more.

“We had a great turn out. Everyone has been enthusiastic in spite of the weather,” commented Cassie Correll, activities director of LYC. “Quaker Haven has really helped us in having all our bases covered when it started raining and helped make this a success.”

The fourth annual Mother Son Adventure had 90 mothers and sons filling up activities. One of the things that makes the event so successful is that the activities are the kind that interest the boys but are still something moms can be a part of and have fun in.

“Here at LYC we want to foster a good relationship between parents and children, and get them excited about spending time with their family,” said Jenny Douglas, assistance executive director of LYC. “The event is a good wholesome activity for mothers and sons to enjoy their time together.”
