Rebecca Anne “Becky” Chaney, 63, of Syracuse, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on July 1, 1955, in Hastings, Mich. to Harold L. & Metha M. (Waters) Gray.

She graduated in 1973 from Hastings High School and moved to the Syracuse area 39 years ago from Michigan. She was employed with Tranter Graphics in Syracuse for past 11 years and former owner/operator of Key Tax Service in Syracuse. 

She is survived by her daughter Jessica Schmitt of Ocoee, Fla.; two sons Douglas (Lisa) Chaney of Hawley, Texas and Bryan (Heather) Chaney of Syracuse; five grandchildren; sister Susan (Patrick) McGarry of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and stepmother Mary Lou Hart of Hastings, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Steven Chaney.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.  Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Kelley of Word of Truth Ministries officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Hastings, MI at a later date.
