WATERLOO – Wawasee put up quite a fight, but could not find a goal in a 1-0 loss to Angola in the first round of the Class 2-A DeKalb Girls Soccer Sectional.

Reace Peppler was the only foot to find paydirt in the contest, using a pass from Emily McKinley to get the Hornets on the board. With the cushion, keeper Sawyer Ewing made it stand up, stopping all nine Wawasee scoring chances to send the Hornets through to the sectional semi-finals.

Wawasee keeper Graceanne Kerlin made nine stops.

Wawasee’s season ends with a 2-13-2 mark.

Angola moves on to face DeKalb Thursday in the day’s first semi-final, the Barons a 2-1 winner over Lakeland in Tuesday’s first matchup. NorthWood and West Noble will play in game two Thursday night.
