Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:13 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, SR 19, west of CR 900W, Nappanee. Driver: Todd A. Hall, 46, East Market, Nappanee. Hall was attempting to pass multiple horse-drawn buggies. Hall’s vehicle struck one buggy in the left front wheel area while attempting to pass. The buggy was pushed approximately 20 feet. Hall’s vehicle continued on, into the front yard of 8989 N CR 900W. Hall’s vehicle came rest on top of a stump. There was damage to the front of the buggy, and the horse sustained scratches. Damage up to $25,000.
5:34 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, West CR 600N, west of North SR 15, Leesburg. Driver: Austin J. Richardson, 19, West CR 400N, Warsaw. Richardson stated he was traveling eastbound on CR 600N when a vehicle approached from the opposite direction very close to the center line. Richardson advised he moved to the right edge of his lane to avoid a collision, resulting in his vehicle leaving the roadway. His vehicle continued up the incline of the ditch before stopping. The only visable damage seen to the vehicle while on the embankment was a crack on the passenger side front of the vehicle. A towing service was called to the scene to pull the vehicle off the incline. While attempts were being made to pull the vehicle out, the vehicle rolled, landing on the driver side. Once the vehicle was rolled back onto all four tires, more damage was located as a result of the vehicle rolling, including a broken driver side mirror and damage to the driver door. Damage up to $750.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:48 p.m. Saturday, East CR 1300N, east of North Warner Road, Syracuse. Driver: Moussa E. Ward, 58, East CR 1290N, Syracuse. Ward stated a deer ran in front of his vehicle and he was unable to avoid striking the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:48 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. A parked, unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot at Maria’s House of Pancakes was struck by an unknown driver, who left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
5:22 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Carmen F. Albertson, 17, Fawn Court, Warsaw; and Kyle R. Katschke, 22, North CR 400W, Rochester. Albertson’s vehicle struck Katschke’s vehicle while in line at the Starbucks drive-thru. Damage up to $2,500.
4:13 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, East Main Street, south of North High Street, Warsaw. Driver: Donna J. Heiny, 56, East Garfiield Street, Warsaw. Heiny said she was leaving the Warsaw Community Library parking lot when she lost control of her moped. The moped swerved to the left, striking a curb on the west side of North High Street, causing Heiny to be ejected from the moped. Heiny was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by Lutheran EMS for her injuries. Damage up to $5,000.
11:03 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, SR 15, south of Lyon Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Bryce L. Ledrew, 17, Barrington Place, Warsaw; and Corey E. Hudson, 42, North CR 600W, Roann. Ledrew’s vehicle rear-ended Hudson’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
10:42 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, US 30, west of Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Shawn N. Flannery, 30, South Maple Avenue, Warsaw; and Heinz H. Schmidt, 80, West CR 1275S, Akron. Flannery’s vehicle rear-ended Schmidt’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:47 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, Kings Highway, south of Rupe Drive, Winona Lake. Drivers: Tammy A. Williams, 43, EMS C27C Lane, Warsaw; and Christopher P. Knecht, 42, East CR 1000N, Syracuse. When Williams pulled out of a private drive onto Kings Highway, her vehicle struck Knecht’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
