Girls Soccer Results: Sept. 18

NORTHWOOD 6, ELKHART CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0
The Lady Panther had their way with Elkhart Christian Tuesday night in a lopsided affair.
Avery Bontrager and Morgan Stickley got NorthWood on the board in the first half with goals just a minute apart, then the wheels fell off the Eagles defense in the second half. Bontrager struck again followed by a Kali Parisi goal and Reagan Hartman got into the act with a goal to send NorthWood to a commanding lead. Hartman added a second goal late in the second half.
NorthWood dominated possession, taking all 15 shots in the match. Kira Robinson and Liliana Lomeli split the shutout.
NorthWood (6-3-3) will take on South Bend St. Joe Thursday in a battle of Class 2-A ranked teams, the Panthers 10th and the Indians sixth.
NORTHRIDGE 8, WAWASEE 0
Class 3-A No. 7 Northridge didn’t have any trouble defeating Wawasee in Syracuse.
Schnell had a hat trick in the first half, scoring the first two goals for the Raiders and adding her third just before the half. Love added two first-half goals while Yoder, Stoltzfus and 3 all scored in the second half.
Northridge’s defense held Wawasee without a shot on goal in the game. Wawasee has been outscored 20-0 in its three Northern Lakes Conference matches to date.
Wawasee (2-9-1, 0-3 NLC) will try again in the NLC Thursday at Plymouth.
FORT WAYNE FUSION 2, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0
Fort Wayne Fusion solved LCA for the second time this season, beating the Cougars in Winona Lake.
A goal in the first half put LCA in chase mode, which allowed the Fusion to pack in defensively and force LCA to shoot over the top. LCA was unable to crack the defense, and a second goal late in the second half ended it.
LCA would outshoot the Fusion 11-7, keeper Maddie Paris making five stops for the Cougars.
“We played well and came up short,” said LCA head coach Nat Raber. “We had our chances but we not able to score. We have had a very high-powered offense this season so far and will look to bounce back quickly. I’m proud of how this team played. We were able to possess the ball a lot of in the second half.”
LCA drops to 7-2-2 on the season, both losses coming against the Fusion. The next contest for LCA will be Thursday at Jimtown.
