UPDATE: Motorcyclist Suffers Non-Life Threatening Injuries In Wreck

A Syracuse police officer surveys the damage done to a Yamaha motorcycle after an accident on SR 13. The bike was hit by a Ford Escape. The rider was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SYRACUSE — Johnny A. Eppert, 30, North CR 750W, Larwill, was airlifted to a Fort Wayne Hospital following a motorcycle accident Friday, Sept. 14. The accident occurred at 4:50 p.m. on South Huntington Street, 150 feet south of East Pickwick Drive, Syracuse.

Eppert suffered a fracture/dislocation to the elbow/lower arm. He was thrown from his motorcycle, landing in a ditch.

Police report Leslie R. Shirey, 95, East Eli Lilly Road, Syracuse, was driving out of the entry from NewMarket in a 2007 Ford Explorer. Shirey told police he stopped, looked both ways and started to drive onto Huntington Street, when the motorcycle hit the passenger side of his vehicle.

Eppert told police he was southbound on his 2008 Yamaha when he struck the Explorer. Eppert tried to stop but was unable to do so. Police did find skid marks on the roadway.

Damage was estimated up to $10,000.

Syracuse Police and Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to the accident.
