David Martin Randall — UPDATED

David Martin Randall, 68, Silver Lake, died at 3:20 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born Dec. 25, 1949, in Michigan to Robert Edwin and Sherilyn (Rusmisel) Randall. He graduated from Akron High School in 1968.

Randall worked at Dalton Foundry in Warsaw, after high school for one year and then joined the United States Army on Sept. 8, 1969, and worked as a radio mechanic. After his honorable discharge Sept. 1, 1975, he returned to work at the Dalton Foundry in the core room where he was employed for 44 years and retired in 2015.

He married Sharon Kay Smith Dec. 26, 1987, in Silver Lake. He had lived in Silver Lake since 1981 moving there from Akron. He was a former member of the Leroy C. Shelton American Legion Post #36 in Rochester, and attended the Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church in Silver Lake.

Surviving David Randall is his wife: Sharon Randall, Silver Lake; one daughter: Karen Lynn (Matthew) Myers, Macy; two sons: Gary Lee (Tonya) Randall, Rochester; and Terry Ray Randall, Rochester; one brother: Robert (Janice) Randall, Silver Lake; two sisters: Gayle McCullough, North Manchester; and Wendy Crist, Silver Lake; one step-brother: Robert (Sue) Bershing, Michigan; and two step-sisters: Janice Bershing, Ohio; and Sharon (Dick) Harris, Michigan; step-father: Bob Bershing and step-mother: Carla Randall; five grandchildren: Kody and Mason Myers, Gabriel and Noah Randall and Rosalie Randall.

Preceding David in death are his parents and sister, Debra Randall.

Visitation will held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 East Rochester Street, Akron.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church, 303 South Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Officiating will be Rev. Frank Whitaker, Jason Smith and Matthew Myers. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with the United States Army and the American Legion Post conducting Military Honors.

For those who wish to honor the memory of David M. Randall, memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church.
