MILFORD — The Milford Public Library has announced the following September events:
Summer Reading Program 2018: A Success
The theme of the 2018 Summer Reading Program was ‘Libraries Rock!’ and at Milford Public Library, children and teens strolled in each day with their logged hours ready to take home prizes.
For every five hours read, infants through 12 graders could win prizes like food coupons, books, and more. In addition, each week Summer Reading Program participants turned in hours they could take home a musical instrument.
Ninety-one teens and children participating in Milford Public Library’s Summer Reading Program read a total of 2,035 hours.
Fifty-two percent of the 176 children and teens registered for the Summer Reading Program turned in hours read, an increase of seven percent from 2017.
The Summer Story Time program was an exceptional success. Guest storytellers did a wonderful job engaging families with books and a fun craft. Each family attending took home a free book.
This year marked the first year that Milford Public Library shortened the Summer Reading Program from eight weeks to six weeks due to participation and attendance levels.
Thank you to everyone who supported or participated in the program. If community members have any questions or comments about the Summer Reading Program, they are welcome to call (574) 658-4312 or email [email protected].
