Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
10:41 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, North SR 15, south of West CR 900N, Milford. Drivers: Alonzo Jackson, 76, River Lake Court, Elkhart; and Kenneth D. Metzler, 61, County Road 127, Goshen. Jackson was traveling south on SR 15 and missed his turn at CR 900N. Metzler began to pass Jackson’s vehicle, as he had stopped in the roadway. As Metzler was passing Jackson, Jackson began to make a U-turn, causing Metzler and his motorcycle to go into a ditch. Metzler appeared to have suffered a broken right ankle and other injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:33 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, South Syracuse Webster Road, south of West Wildwood Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Luchas D. Schoonover, 17, Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Schoonover was traveling north on South Syracuse Webster Road when a school bus pulled out in front of him. As he turned to avoid a collision, Schoonover’s vehicle went into a yard and struck an entrance sign. Damage up to $2,500.
3:33 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 9850 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Drivers: Randy L. Catron, 41, North CR 750E, Syracuse; and Jennifer E. Webster, 37, East Wawonaissa Drive, Syracuse. Webster was backing out of a parking space while Catron was exiting a parking lot. Catron attempted to stop his vehicle but could not come to a complete stop. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:03 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, Washington Street, north of West Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Rowena S. Fretz, 54, Cambridge Drive, Warsaw. Fretz was traveling north on Washington Street when she noticed a pedestrian was walking on the right side of the road. As she attempted to avoid the pedestrian, Fretz swerved her vehicle too much, causing her to strike a parked semi trailer. Damage up to $10,000.
