KOSCIUSKO — The Michiana Area Council of Governments has started a year-long process updating the Michiana on the Move: 2045 Transportation Plan, a long-range transportation plan for the region, including Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph Counties. This plan acts as a blueprint for how the region will address transportation needs and how federal, state and local funds will be invested into highways, public transit, freight and active transportation infrastructure.
MACOG is currently seeking public input about how our region should grow over the next 20 years. Land use, development and where we choose to live can impact how we move and utilize our transportation network. A short survey will address some of these topics. Please provide your input by Sunday, Sept. 16.
Throughout the next year, MACOG will be hosting a variety of other engagement opportunities through additional surveys, workshops, and pop-up events. A critical element of this plan is that it aligns and reflects the vision and values of our region’s residents. Those interested in staying informed of the various opportunities and providing input on how we grow and move as a region, can sign-up for MACOG’s mailing list on the project website.
The Michiana on the Move: 2045 Transportation Plan will ultimately establish priorities and guidance that will inform future policy and transportation projects so that our region can better invest and prepare for the growth of our transportation network.
