ETNA GREEN — An Etna Green man was recently arrested after he forcibly entered a home. Once inside, he threatened to kill a female victim then head-butted her before running away.

Matthew Christopher Hoshal, 26, 222 E. High St., Etna Green, is being charged with residential entry, a level 6 felony; intimidation, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 24, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residential entry complaint. A female victim advised she was in her bedroom when Hoshal kicked the door open, causing the wood to splinter.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Hoshal picked up a broken piece of wood, pointed it against the victim’s neck and stated, “I will kill you.” The female advised she then told Hoshal she was going to call the police and he took her cellphone. The female told the officer that Hoshal head-butted her and left the residence riding a moped.
The officer observed Hoshal riding a moped in the area of Lake Street and Zimmer Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop and Hoshal admitted to kicking the victim’s door in.
At the victim’s residence, the officer was able to observe a footprint on the door and parts of the door splintering. He also observed a bruise on the victim’s head where Hoshal head-butted her.
Hoshal was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 24, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
