INDIANAPOLIS — A new study out this month shows just how bad Indiana is struggling with ‘food security.’

The Food Research and Action Center says nearly 1 in 5 Indiana households with children struggle to afford enough food.

And, the Hoosier state was ranked the 20th worst state for overall food hardships in the U.S.

According to our partners at the News and Tribune, roughly 31 percent of Hooisers who are ‘food insecure’ don’t qualify for SNAP benefits from the government.

However, there are other programs that can help.

Most counties have at least food pantries and food services like Gleaners or Second Helpings here in Indy.

Plus, there are services like ‘food finders food bank’ that provide food and other services for struggling families.
