KOSCIUSKO — A complaint regarding a passed out female in a vehicle led police to a drug arrest.

Karrin Ransbottom, 37, 2317 Brookview Drive, Warsaw, is being charged with possession of a narcotic, a level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; possession of a legend drug, a level 6 felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.

On Aug. 2, an officer with the Syracuse Police Department responded to a welfare check. A caller advised a female was passed out in a vehicle. The officer observed the described vehicle and found a female leaning over the passenger seat.

The officer identified the female as Ransbottom, who advised she was waiting for her boss to pick her up for work. While speaking with Ransbottom, the officer noticed she had multiple red and bruised marks with purple veins on the inside of her elbows. He was able to recognize these as needle track marks.

The officer obtained consent to search the female’s vehicle. According to the affidavit or probable cause, he discovered a syringe in the center console, a syringe loaded with heroin in her purse and five pills identified as Clonazepam.

Ransbottom admitted to the officer that the syringe contained heroin. While speaking to the officer, mucus was coming from her nose. The officer provided her with a tissue.

When Ransbottom arrived at the jail, jail officers removed the tissue from her hand. Inside the tissue, the officer discovered 1 1/2 hydrocodone pills and a methocarbamol pill.

Ransbottom is scheduled for an initial hearing on Oct. 4.
