WINONA LAKE — The Warsaw Winona Lake Ride+Walk Advisory Committee got things spinning at Grace College’s Welcome Weekend by giving away a bicycle to an incoming freshman. Tyler Brueckman, of Dayton, Ohio, won a new Grace College cruiser bike in a drawing that happened at registration this past Saturday, Aug. 18. 

Brueckman is starting the 2018-2019 school year at Grace as a varsity soccer player and a health sciences major. Now, he can easily cruise around campus and he can enjoy the biking options in the community, which include nearly ten miles of single-track mountain bike/running trails. He could also take a trek on the five and a half miles of paved Greenway Paths which directly connect Grace’s campus to the community. 

Grace College is home to one of four bike share stations that are part of the Bike Share program. Zagster bike racks are located in the Village at Winona, near the Gordon Rec Center at Grace College, near Warsaw Community Public Library and at Boggs Industrial Park near the Zimmer Biomet campus on Warsaw’s west side.

The Ride+Walk Advisory Committee was formed in January 2012 to further bicycle and pedestrian facilities, programs and opportunities in the Warsaw, Winona Lake and Kosciusko County communities. The committee crosses public and private sectors, for-profit and philanthropic concerns and municipal boundaries. Government representatives, local agencies and community advocates are represented on the committee. The collaborative effort and partnership of these entities have opened the door for significant improvements in the community.
