Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:38 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, South CR 600E, north of East CR 350S, Pierceton. Driver: Austin J. Grim, 26, North CR 350W, Warsaw. Grim was traveling north on South CR 600E when a dog entered the roadway. Grim’s vehicle swerved to miss the dog and collided with a mailbox at a residence. There were no injuries reported on the scene, and there was no damage to the mailbox. Damage up to $10,000.
2:39 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, North 1st Street, Warsaw. Driver: James E. Jorczak, 81, Oldfield Drive, Leesburg. An officer with KCSD was dispatched to the scene of a possible accident. Upon arrival, the officer noted that Crouse Wrecker Service had already pulled the vehicle from a ditch. The landowner at the scene informed the officer that the vehicle had gone off the road and that it appeared the vehicle struck the landowner’s barn. The officer inspected the barn and noticed that the foundation was broken. Plastic pieces were also noticed inside the barn. Jorczak reportedly advised that the barn had nothing to do with the accident and that his vehicle went off the roadway, into the ditch, stopping short of the barn. The officer located a piece of headlight lens inside the barn and matched it to the assembly on the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage up to $10,000.
9:33 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, East SR14 and South Packerton Road, Sidney. Drivers: Richard R. Long, 81, Rozella Road, Warsaw; and Crystal L. Trout, 44, North CR 800W, Roann. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $25,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:28 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, North SR 13 and East South Street, North Webster. Drivers: Jose Vences, 48, East CR 200N, Warsaw; and Judith A. Coldren, 69, South Mill Street, North Webster. Vences stated he slowed for traffic turning left onto South Street and then continued north when his vehicle was struck by Coldren’s vehicle. Coldren advised she was going around Vences’ vehicle, as Vences had his left turn signal activated. She stated that as she passed him on the right he continued forward, resulting in his vehicle hitting the side of her vehicle. Vences left the scene but returned after going around the block. Vences was issued a citation for no valid operator’s license. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:07 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Karen Gadson, 73, Cameo Avenue, Portage, Mich; and David J. McIlwain, 71, West Brooklyn Street, Syracuse. Gadson was backing her vehicle out of a parking space when her vehicle collided with McIlwain’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, North SR 15, near East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennie K. Loubert, 43, South Warbler Lane, Warsaw; and Lyle J. Hammond, 57, West Holderman Road, Silver Lake. Loubert was traveling north on North Detroit Street preparing to make a left hand turn. She didn’t observe any southbound traffic and proceeded to turn left. While turning, Loubert’s vehicle struck Hammond’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
