Columbia City — Lutheran EMS will be offering free car seat safety inspections from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Columbia City’s First Friday.

The inspection point will be located next to the police station at Market Street and Chauncey. Certified Car Seat Technicians Alicia Elder and Sarah Ellison will be working with parents, grandparents and guardians who transport children to help ensure car seats are properly installed.

The Individuals who will be conducting the car seat inspections have received 32 hours of education and training to become a Certified Car Seat Technician. The goal of a car seat inspection is to ensure every child is correctly restrained in their car seat for their safety throughout regular transport or when experiencing a collision.

A proper car seat inspection can provide individuals with peace of mind in knowing that their child is properly restrained each and every time. If you are unable to attend Friday’s safety inspections but are interested in having your car seat inspected, please call (574) 269-1975 ext. 6 to schedule your appointment.
