WEST LAFAYETTE – NorthWood ended its 2017 girls golf season in the hunt for a state berth. The 2018 version is already ahead of schedule.

Shooting a program record 322, the Lady Panthers topped the field at the Harrison Invite in the golf lid lifter. The record round was three shots better than the 325 the team posted at the 2015 regional.

Among the outstanding showing on day one of the high school fall season was a pair of 77s from both MacKenzie Weaver and Cybil Stillson, each landing in third on the leaderboard. Abby Slabaugh carded an 83 for eighth overall, and the Panthers also had an 86 from Delaney Davis and 90 from Breanna Goss on the Coyote Crossing course.

Lafayette Jeff were second at 331, followed by Crown Point at 337, NorthWood’s JV at 365, and trailed by Kokomo (367), Harrison (373), McCutcheon (390), Twin Lakes (423), West Lafayette (428) and Plymouth (432). Kokomo’s Kiah Parrott was the match medalist with a one-under 71.

JV scores for the Panthers were Kirsten Schrock at 80, who was seventh at the invite, with Makenna Gall at 90, Kylee Gall at 91 and Abigail Richner at 104.

NorthWood will see Lafayette Jeff and friends again Tuesday at Battle Ground Golf Club for the Jeff Invite.
