Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:09 p.m. Friday, July 27, SR 15, north of CR west 350S, Warsaw. Driver: Tedros Berelsman, 16, Wildwood Trail, Warsaw. Berelsman swerved to avoid a deer and struck a landscaping retaining wall. Damages up to $10,000.
12:19 p.m. Friday, July 27, US 30, west of South CR 900E, Pierceton. Drivers: Gelata Kuffa, 22, Sioux City Iowa; and Jerry Lain, 28, Hayes Leonard Road, Valparaiso. Kuffa’s vehicle struck the driver’s side mirror of Lain’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:22 p.m. Sunday, July 29, North Lake Street, north of Union Street, Warsaw. Driver: Mayra Cervantes, 22, Nye Street, Warsaw. Cervantes stated she looked down at her phone and veered to the right, striking a parked vehicle. Cervantes was arrested for OWI after completing field sobriety tests. Results are pending from a voluntary blood draw. The parked car belonged to Andrew Blauvelt, Warsaw. Damages up to $25,000.
11:27 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2473 Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Driver: Castillo Cifuentes, 58, Vicky Lane, Warsaw. Cifuentes’ vehicle hit a curb and then struck the lighted McDonald’s sign. Damages up to $2,500.
11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 28, Old Road 30 and Kosciusko Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Maranda Evett, 28, Rieder Street, Warsaw; and Dara Matthews, 31, County Farm Road, Warsaw. Both vehicles collided in the intersection. Damages up to $5,000.
2:52 p.m. Friday, July 27, Hand Avenue, south of West Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Barton Curtis, 55, Miami Club Court, Mishawaka. Curtis drove a large vehicle under the Hand Avenue bridge. The vehicle impacted the overhead railroad bridge. Damages up to $25,000.
3:56 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2501 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Tonilee Vining, 62, CR 700W, Mentone; and Austin Reichard, 17, Henderson Drive, Warsaw. Vining was backing up for a parking spot and struck Reichard’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
