Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:20 p.m. Friday, July 20, West Myrtle Glen Road, east of Indian Trails, Silver Lake. Due to a large storm in Silver Lake, multiple vehicles were forced to park along the roadway. Clay Township Fire Department assisted Silver Lake following the storm. A Clay Township fire truck was parked facing westbound on Myrtle Glen Road, running, with the emergency brake on. The vehicle was unoccupied. At some point, the emergency brake failed, resulting in the vehicle rolling forward and striking another unoccupied vehicle that was parked alongside the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:03 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, East Winona Avenue, east of Smith Street, Warsaw. Driver: Allan D. Ross, 55, East Smith Street, Warsaw. Ross was traveling east on Smith Street. It is reported that Ross passed through the intersection at East Winona Avenue without stopping at the stop sign, then Ross’ vehicle went off the left side of the road, striking a utility pole. Ross was transported by EMS to Fort Wayne Lutheran for injuries. Damage up to $25,000.
5:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, North Detroit Street, north of East Main Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Iza M. Rosa, 44, Kuder Lane, Warsaw; and Cherylyn A. Trier, 65, East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $5,000.
5:23 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, East Fort Wayne Street, east of North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kelsey M. Hall, 23, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw; and Suzanne M. Light, 66, East Masters Lane, Warsaw. Hall was stopped in traffic when she looked down at her phone. She thought traffic had started to move when she rear-ended Light’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
4:51 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, SR 15, south of Poor Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer E. Sommers, 33, EMS C27A Lane, Warsaw; and Kurt P. Dunbar, 43, South Woodland Trail, Warsaw. Sommers’ vehicle rear-ended Dunbar’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
