Kosciusko

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

5:39 p.m. Thursday, July 12, South SR 19, north of CR 950S, Akron. Drivers: Joseph M. Eastgate, 39, West Division Road, Pierceton; Dylan T. Hoffman, 21, South SR 19, Akron. Eastgate told police that while driving his vehicle northbound on SR 19, he turned to speak to a passenger and crossed the center line, causing his vehicle to side-swipe the vehicle driven by Hoffman. Damage up to $5,000.

11:29 a.m. Thursday, July 12, East Smith Street, Warsaw. Driver: Delores M. Gaylord, 67, East CR 450S, Warsaw. Police said Gaylord was backing out of a parking spot at the county fair and backed into a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

11:26 Thursday, July 12, East US 30 and South SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Curtis Alford, 58, Westerly Drive, Lima, Ohio; Derick L. Blake, Old Quarry Road, Elkton, Ky. Alford and Blake were both driving commercial vehicles with trailers and were traveling eastbound on U.S. 30. According to police, Blake stopped or slowed his vehicle and trailer and Alford could not stop his vehicle and trailer in time before his vehicle hit Blake’s trailer. Damage up to $10,000.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

11:52 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, Parker Street, south of Husky Trail, Warsaw. Drivers: Terry P. Wood, 53, South Blue Spruce Court, Warsaw; Christopher Clabaugh, 57, East CR 600N, Pierceton. Wood told police he was attempting to pull his vehicle out into traffic and was allowed to proceed by a driver in the middle lane. He proceeded and attempted to advance into the the left lane, but did not see the vehicle driven by Clabaugh. He said he heard the horn from Clabaugh’s vehicle but could not stop his vehicle in time. Damage up to $2,500.
